Day #5

When she was sure that her and Emberon had gone their separate ways, Myra returned to the observatory.

There must have been something helpful in there. Rations, or a letter opener she could drive through a Soulless' eye socket. After rifling through the writing desk, digging through an empty food stockpile bin, and snapping a lever off of the telescope to pocket for later, she found herself running her finger along the spines of the books along the walls.

Myra was not one for reading. She was so bad at Arcane Theory during school that she was provided with a series of private tutors, all of whom withdrew from instructing her. Apparently she had 'behavioural issues', and 'kept making her tutors quit teaching'. All because she found Arcane Theory horrifically dull... and had a tendency of singing her teachers' hair off. But must we get into specifics?

As she ran her finger across, one of the books gave underneath the pad of her finger, and a quiet click caught her ear. Her eyes narrowed against the tawny brown leather cover of the book. Anathoria's Astronomical Movements, as they pertain to Arcane Theoretics: A history. Snappy.

Myra dug her hand into the top of the book, yanking it decisively downwards and stepping back as a series of clicks, whirring and locking filled the air. A moment later, that section of the shelf was sinking below the grey floor, rotating sideways to reveal a steel ladder, disappearing into the dark.

Bad idea, Myra hissed to herself as she lowered herself into the square opening. Bad idea, bad idea, gods above what are you doing!

But she needed food, supplies. If there was even a chance that something helpful was down there—she was going to find it.

Journal #5

Managed to find some dried rations down here. They had potted water too. It was even a little cold.

It was... weird down there, though. There was this huge black thing in there. Like a big ball made of metal, all hammered together on top of a pole. I found a diary in there. Think it belonged to Emberon's sister.

Weird shit again. There were like seven pages in a row that just said 'All hail, all hail, all hail', over and over again. In the beginning, it was pretty standard stuff, like observations of the eclipse and stuff like that. But over time, her writing got kind of funky, and she started talking about 'becoming one with the void' and 'letting the eclipse consume all'. Doesn't look like she ever really got close to figuring this whole thing out. It's sad.

Not that she couldn't save Anathoria. I've got that shit handled. But she didn't even know how fucked everything was, and thinking about someone just staring into the eclipse all the time... yeah, it's fucked up.

I wonder where Emberon is. How much of her is left?
